A declined payment is almost always a decision made by your bank, not by MagicShot. Payments are processed by Stripe, so what reaches us is that the charge failed, not the reason your bank refused it.
Why a payment gets declined
- The card expired, or was replaced and the old number is still on file
- Not enough funds available at the moment the charge ran
- The bank blocked it as an online, recurring or international charge
- A verification step, such as 3-D Secure, wasn't completed
- The billing address or postcode on the card doesn't match what was entered
None of these are visible to us in detail. If the card looks fine to you, the fastest route is to ask your bank to allow the charge, recurring charges from abroad are a common automatic block.
Fixing a declined card
Your plan and payment details live in your dashboard, and that's where a card is updated. Card details go to Stripe directly and never touch MagicShot servers, which is why support can't look one up or change it on your behalf.
What happens to your plan
A failed payment isn't a cancellation. The two are different actions with different consequences, so if you actually want to stop paying, cancel the subscription rather than letting a charge fail, a charge taken after a confirmed cancellation is a billing error and is refunded in full, while a lapsed payment isn't a cancellation on record.
Your dashboard shows the current state of the plan, and that's the figure to go by while a payment is being sorted out. If it isn't clear there, email support@magicshot.ai from the address on the account and we'll tell you exactly where things stand.
Credits are unaffected by any of this in the sense that matters: they reset at the start of each billing cycle and don't roll over, whether or not a payment went through. See do credits expire.
If you were charged anyway
A declined attempt can still show as a pending authorization on your statement for a short time before your bank clears it. That isn't a charge. If you were genuinely charged twice, or charged after canceling, that's a billing error and it's refunded in full, see requesting a refund.
Getting help
Email support@magicshot.ai with the email address on your account and the date of the attempted charge. Don't send full card numbers, we can't use them and they shouldn't travel by email. You'll get a response within 2 business days.
